Searches Meta's catalogue of ready-made templates — copy written by Meta for the most common cases: payment reminder, order confirmation, delivery update, verification code.
What comes back here are not templates on your account, it is the catalogue.
To turn one into a template, call POST /templates with libraryTemplateName
set to the item's name.
Two things that are often misunderstood:
- The copy is not editable. You only fill in what the item asks for —
libraryTemplateButtonInputs(URL, phone) andlibraryTemplateBodyInputs. To write your own copy, it isPOST /templateswithcomponents. - Approval is not guaranteed. The template starts as
PENDINGlike any other; starting from a ready-made one usually speeds review up, it does not skip it.
The catalogue is the same for every account and rarely changes, so the response
comes from a shared 6-hour cache. cached tells you where it came from and
refresh=true bypasses it.

Missing, malformed, unknown or revoked token (authentication), or a suspended
account (tenant_inactive).
The resource does not belong to your account (forbidden), or the path is on the
mirror's block list (forbidden_endpoint), or your API key is limited to some numbers and
the operation covers the whole account (forbidden).
No WhatsApp Business Account connected and wabaId omitted (no_waba).
Payload failed validation (invalid_request, detailed in issues) or was
rejected by Meta (meta_error, with the original body in meta).
Rate limit exceeded (rate_limit).
